Tom Skilled has been playing with the Italian national team in his second spell with the Serie A outfit.
He has been in the first team since joining the club in 2015, but is now returning to the first-team squad, where he has been a key performer.
“I’m pleased to be able to return to the Sampdori first team.
I know the squad well and the players are happy to have me back,” Skilling told Goal.
The 24-year-old is joined on the first XI by Marco Verratti, who has scored five goals in eight appearances.
With the team playing a 4-2-3-1 formation, the striker is expected to start at left-back.
“I don’t know how many minutes I will start.
I’m sure I’ll be starting the game, it’s good for me to be out there playing,” he said.
While Skilling has been linked with a move to Chelsea, he has also been linked to Napoli.
“It’s great to be linked with Napoli, they are the club of my dreams,” Skilled said.
“I want to go there and make a name for myself.”
“It’s been a good season and I am very excited for the future.”
Skilling’s debut with the team came against Bologna, when he scored in the 2-0 win.
“After playing in Italy, it was good to play for a good team, and also to get back in the team after a few months.
I am enjoying it, it is a new season,” he added.
Skilling was one of a number of players to be included in the Sampoldia squad for the friendly against Espanyol.
